19-year-old Emily Starkloff who was hit and killed by a driver is the daughter of the founder of Paraquad, Inc a not-for-profit community-based Center for Independent Living.

Max Starkloff championed the rights of people with disabilities for decades, but tonight, the founder of Paraquad is asking for help to find his daughter's killer.

It was just after 1 a.m. when Emily Starkloff got off the MetroLink after visiting friends in Maplewood.

Starkloff was trying to cross the street at 4400 Forest Park Blvd and Taylor in Central West End ( 63108)when she was hit by a car.

"I can't comprehend somebody killing somebody like that and living with it for the rest of their lives," said Max Starkloff, Emily's father. "That's what this person is doing, he or she. Come forth."

Police haven't been able to tell the family much because they did not find any witnesses at the scene. An officer traveling eastbound on Forest Park Blvd discovered Emily's body and called for an ambulance.

Emily attended St. Elizabeth and Maplewood High Schools. She was studying to become an ICU nurse possibly after seeing how they helped her father in the past.

Heart

if the heart is not a play thing
and if the heart is not a toy
Why is it always broken
when given to to some boy

Iis it tears and rips apart
and there's nothing left to do
don't leave this world that way
go on and find some one new

find some one who will treasure you
and help u on your way
rhen keep him forever
and never lose a day

he'll put your heart in a glass jar
and keep it locked in there
he'll never let another soul touch it a
and take it with him every where

Have You Ever?

By: Emily Starkloff

This is for you Andrew Severstien!!!

I hate this feeling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever loved someone,
And known they didnt love you?
Have you ever wanted to cry,
And wondered what they'd do?
Have you ever looked into their eyes,
And known they didnt care?
Have you ever looked into their heart,
And wished that you were there?
Never fall in love my friend,
You'll see it doesnt pay,
It isn't worth the heartache it causes on the way.
Again I say dont fall in love,
and all i say is true.
You see my friend i ought to know
Cause I fell in LOVE with YOU.

    Tulips for Emily

this painting is on a new watercolor paper ...

this is a tribute to my young neighbor, emily starkloff-- who passed last week.

she was a fiery redhead-- full of life and laughter.

her joyful presence and bright eyes will be missed.

it was a sad day on Laclede Place -- the neighborhood is honoring her with a red-leafed maple -- which we are planting in the median.
